The Glanvilles Stud

Welcome to The Glanvilles Stud

The Glanvilles Stud in Dorset lies at the heart of National Hunt country, where the Blackmore Vale meets the chalk downlands - perfect land for rearing strong, sound thoroughbreds.

Doug and Lucy Procter welcome you to The Glanvilles Stud in the heart of Dorset, where the Blackmore Vale meets the chalk downs, perfect land for rearing Thoroughbreds.

The Stud’s land, in the heart of South West jumping country, produces well grown, sound horses. It was originally an organic dairy farm with beautiful mature hedges and trees. These have been adapted with post and rail to form 60 acres of safe paddocks.

Doug and Lucy started breeding as Wriggle Valley Thoroughbreds and their first foal FOXES BRIDGE was a dual chase winner. Winners have kept coming with the 2017/18 season seeing SAM SPINNER give the stud a first Grade 1 winner and HONEYSUCKLE a 2nd Grade 1 winner in the 2018/19 season. The stud’s own broodmare band has increased to nine with permanent and seasonal boarders bringing numbers up to twenty at any given time.

They moved their horses to the current site in 2008 and in 2012, following a chance meeting with Dr Geoffrey Guy, started The Glanvilles Stud. The farm buildings have been improved to house 26 boxes, including eight spacious foaling boxes under camera and a dedicated vetting area, in addition to which our vets Holnest Park Equine are based on the Stud. Outside, a six-horse walker and large all-weather turnout have added to the stud’s first class facilities.

In 2015 the Stud took on Pitts Farm Stud on the other side of the village for youngstock, prep and resting racehorses, increasing the total acreage to 120.
